A wonderful place to stay in Sagres.

Tonel Cottage is a beautifully restored fisherman's  cottage ideally located to access the beaches and landscape of the West Algarve.

Whether it is an action packed holiday of surfing, swimming, walking, cycling, scuba diving and dolphin watching, or a more relaxing trip simply enjoying the sights and sounds of this incredible peninsular, Tonel Cottage provides the perfect base.

From the cottage it is only a three minute walk  to the famed west coast beach of Tonel. Tuck your board under your arm and go and catch some waves. Also it is only a five minute walk to the more protected south coast beach of Mareta which is great for swimming and snorkelling.

Great to explore, Sagres town centre is only a 5 to10 minute stroll away and offers a heady mix of modern bars, fantastic restaurants where you can sample delicious local seafood specialities and also a great history. The world famous Fortaleza de Sagres is where Henry the Navigator, Infante of Portugal set up his sailing school. It is claimed that Christopher Columbus studied here.

Sagres and its surroundings are within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. This is a protected and incredibly beautiful landscape of rugged cliffs, unspoilt beaches and miles of  wide open countryside full of wild plants, flowers and wildlife.

Named by the Romans as the End of the World and still called that today, it is the land's end of Europe, it is to some a place of pilgrimage.
